John James Audubon's striking illustration of the Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus) depicts two magnificent owls with brilliant white plumage, intricate brown markings, and piercing golden-yellow eyes. Perched upon the weathered branches of an old tree, the birds stand against a dramatic, cloud-filled night sky that beautifully contrasts with their pale feathers.
