This detailed 19th-century botanical illustration features the sandarac tree (Tetraclinis articulata), a North African conifer distinguished by its delicate, intricately branching foliage and tiny scale-like leaves. The scientific study includes enlarged views of its pollen cones, woody seed cones, and reproductive structures, beautifully illustrating the distinctive anatomy of this evergreen species.
