John James Audubon's illustration of a female Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) with her young celebrates the natural beauty of this iconic North American game bird, distinguished by its richly patterned brown feathers and sturdy woodland form. Accompanied by her small poults, the mother turkey represents the close family bonds and protective behavior characteristic of this remarkable forest species.
